When to go
Los Angeles has a Mediterranean climate with dry, hot summers and mild winters. Temperatures creep steadily higher from March and stay warm right through to October, making a spring or autumn holiday in LA very appealing. If you’re after an LA tan though, the hottest months are July and August when it hardly ever rains and temperatures are consistently around 28 degrees Celsius. The city can have spectacular summer storms but they are unusual. If you want to plan your trip around a festival or key event, there are plenty to choose from. Some of LA’s most notable events are the Academy Awards in March, the Los Angeles Film Festival in June, Independence Day Celebrations on the 4th of July and the Hollywood Christmas Parade.

Electrical
America uses 110 volts compared to our 240 volts. If you’re planning to take your UK appliances, make sure they have a tag or an imprint that says 100-240V. You will also need an adaptor as well: US plugs have 2 pins that sit in a V shape.

What to pack
When visiting LA we recommend packing for the season. While winter weather is known to be mild, it can get cold at night so be sure to bring some layers. Of course, if you do forget anything, LA has some great shopping areas. Other things to bring from home though include:
- Passport
- Power adaptor
- Hat, sunglasses and sun cream
- Comfortable walking shoes
- Photo ID
- Digital camera
- US power adaptor
