When to go
Brisbane

Brisbane's subtropical climate is warm all year round, but the most comfortable temperatures are in late autumn to spring, between May and November. This is also when the biggest cultural events hit the capital including the Queensland Music Festival in July, the River Festival in August and the Brisbane Festival in September. It is also the peak time for whale watching off the coast. Queensland's summers can be uncomfortably hot, humid and wet for travellers who are used to colder climates, with temperatures often beating 40 degrees Celsius between December and February, making more southerly destinations such as Sydney and Melbourne a better fit for Christmas breaks.
