Hop on a cable car to explore the city’s steeply inclining streets, stroll through Union Square, take a cruise through the glistening bay to catch a glimpse of the remarkable Golden Gate Bridge, tour the legendary inescapable island prison of Alcatraz or relish the tourist experience of fun filled Fisherman’s Wharf – San Francisco’s laid-back attitude will charm you on arrival.

San Francisco is also the gateway to the beautiful Californian countryside – from the handsome wine regions of the Sonoma and Napa Valleys to the wilderness of Yosemite National Park and the incredible 60 Mile Beach. You can choose to hire a car to drive to Los Angeles, or join a tour and meet like-minded travellers as you journey down the west coast of California. If you fancy seeing a little more, make your way across the state and head into Nevada to spend a few days in the brightly-lit gambling Mecca of Las Vegas, or continue south past LA to sunny San Diego or even to the party town of Tijuana in Mexico for something a little different.
