Can we take a different trip from those outlined on your website?
Yes. The trips on the website are merely examples of some of our more popular trips, we can tailor make you a trip to suit your exact needs all you need to do is ask one of our consultants.
How long can I travel for?
Most of our standard tickets only last a year however should you have a longer trip in mind please do speak to us as we can combine tickets to give you a longer trip. Its worth remembering that flights can only be booked between 10 and 11 months in advance, so if you are planning a longer trip we may have to change some dates whilst you are travelling.
Can I leave my dates open?
It is a requirement of booking a travel ticket that a provisional date is booked for all flight sectors, however if it is too far in advance to book the dates or should you have a change of plan these dates can be amended to your chosen dates availability permitting. Remember if you are travelling at busy times or you know there is a special event on you should change your dates as soon as you can to make sure you can travel on your preferred travel dates.
What are taxes and why do I have to pay so much for them?
Taxes are a combination of Government taxes and airline charges which combine together to give you your total taxes. Generally the more stops you make the more tax you will have to pay, as every time you land and take off again taxes will be charged. Some airlines charge more for taxes than others, so it is our job to ensure that we chose the correct airlines for your flights so that we can keep the cost as low as possible for you. Unfortunately part of the tax is levied against the price of fuel which is dependent on the price of oil. This can fluctuate regularly and it nearly always increases. You will pay the taxes as quoted on the day of your final payment; it is therefore an advantage to pay for the ticket as early as you can.
Do you only book flights?
We are here to take the stress out of your travel experience therefore we can book all aspects of your trip from a Safari in Africa to a day tour in Los Angeles. We have access to a fantastic range of hotels and tours throughout the world, we also get fantastic rates on campervan hire and car hire. An overland tour can be an excellent way to travel and can often work out to be fantastic value. Remember the more you can book before you go the less hassle you will have to endure on your trip.
Do I need to take out travel insurance?
Yes, definitely. Travel insurance is always vital on a round the world trip and at Flight Centre we offer a fantastic policy with an excellent level of cover. You will be travelling to different countries and as well as experiencing the culture there will be a range of activities to tempt you. Our travel insurance policies can cover you for most of these activities. Should anything happen you can have the piece of mind of knowing that you are covered both medically and in terms of your possessions.
Can you help with volunteering?
Yes. If you want to make your trip more meaningful we can assist in organising projects for you. There are a huge range of projects that you can work on from building new houses and schools in Africa to helping conserve turtles in Central America. We can also help arrange TEFL courses and point you in the right direction where to look for teaching jobs abroad.
How can I find out if it's safe to travel to certain destinations?
Check out the Foreign & Commonwealth Office web site at www.fco.gov.uk for the most up to date travel advice for the countries you intend travelling to.
How important is it to speak the language?
If you can speak the language then you will find travelling becomes easier and more interesting as you will find the hidden gems by speaking to the locals. At celebrations you will become more of a participant than a spectator by knowing a little bit of the language. We can arrange Spanish lessons in South America when you arrive in various locations. If you are going to spend a lot of time in a particular country you can often do a beginners course here in the UK.
Can I book my flight with you if I live outside the UK?
Yes you most certainly can. Where possible we will try and book your flights so they originate and terminate in your country of origin. On occasion this may not be possible however we will help you to book your flights here to start your ticket and then your flights home again at the end.
