Areas of Los Angeles

Santa Monica: LA's oldest and largest beach resort with a wooden pier, funfair and great shopping. Long Beach has a 9km-long white sand beach. Pine Avenue, the centre of town, is lined with shops, cafes and restaurants, while Shoreline Village, on the waterfront, has eateries and boutiques.

Beverly Hills: Here you can admire the designer boutiques on Rodeo Drive and take a tour of the stars homes. The Golden Triangle between Rodeo Drive, Dayton Way and Brighton Way might well yield a celeb or two! Rodeo Drive offers designer shops.

Hollywood: You'll find the celebrity Walk of Fame and the Hollywood Studio Museum. In Burbank you can enjoy the rides and tour at Universal Studios. Shopping, bars and nightlife can be found on Sunset Strip and Melrose Avenue.

Anaheim: Home to fun parks filled with roller coasters, rides and other amusements at Disneyland and Knott's Berry Farm.

Getting there and around

Los Angeles International Airport is located 24km (15 miles) southwest of Los Angeles. The journey to/from the city centre take around 30 - 40 minutes.

Transport: Rental car is probably the best way to get around LA, as various companies operate also reliable buses as well as the efficient (but limited) MetroRail system in the downtown area. However Taxis are available too but just watch the meter.

Sightseeing Ideas

Universal Studios Hollywood: Love Movies? Now live them with rides, shows and attractions that bring your favourite movies to life.

Disneyland Park & Disney's California Adventure Park: Enjoy two amazing parks, Disneyland for Main Street USA, Adventure and much more. Disney's California Adventure Park for Paradise Pier and many crazy rides.

LA City Tour & Movie Stars Homes: Enjoy Mann's Chinese Theatre for its collection of handprints, footprints & signatures of the stars. Beverly Hills and Rodeo Drive are also stops on this tour.

Top tips

Eating: Check out Restaurant Row on La Cienega Boulevard, or trendy Beverly Drive for its hip cafes, clubs and restaurants. Of course, that old favourite, Wolfgang Puck's Spago is a great place for celeb spotting.

The Lakers Stadium (Staples Centre) or Dodger Stadium is great on a summer afternoon. If you are a true sports fan and enjoy exploring the different stadiums and arenas this is one for you.
