Areas of Bangkok

The Chao Phraya River: The Chao Phraya River is still the epicenter of a city. Cruises and river taxis ferry locals and visitors along, providing a chance to take in some of the stunning temples that are a must for any visit to Bangkok.

Patpong Area: The most popular and fun part of the city for nightlife. It is located between Silom Road and Surawong Road. Plenty of places to go and enjoy a night on the town including the infamous exotic go-go bars and night market.

Sukhumvit Road: In the eastern part of the city is fashionable Sukhumvit Road, this area has plenty of hotels and marks the beginning of a rambling shopping, entertainment and residential district.

Bangkok International Airport is located about 25km (15mi) outside the city. The journey to/from the city centre takes between 45 - 120 minutes.

Good public transport system including: river, canal or skytrain.

Sightseeing Ideas

Grand Palace: The Grand Palace is Bangkok's most famous attraction. Built is 1782 by King Rama I, each elaborate building is a masterpiece of Thai architecture. The Grand Palace is open to visitors daily, either morning or afternoon.

Floating Markets: Located outside of Bangkok, this is a must see. Bright, bustling, loud, colorful and a world away from our idea of a market.

Jim Thompson House: An original Thai-style house amidst lush gardens and home to the remarkable American who came to Thailand and revived the Thai silk industry.
