Adventure can be anything outside of the day-to-day. It doesn't have to mean white-water or bungy, but can be about the destination, the activity, the company you're in, the wildlife you see, the cultures you visit. Relaxed or full-on is your choice.

On this relaxed tour we savour every taste of Cuba, from the expertly mixed mojitos to the traditional cuisine at Hemingway's favourite restaurant, La Bodeguita del Medio. Latin rhythms permeate the streets of Havana, Trinidad and Cienfuegos leaving our feet tapping. In Vinales Valley, with its picturesque limestone karsts, the smell of cigars hangs in the air as we learn how Cuba's finest exports are carefully rolled by hand, meticulous attention paid to each one. There is plenty of time for snorkelling and sunbathing when we take an (optional) catamaran trip along the Caribbean coast. In Trinidad, musicians at the famous Casa de la Trova ('house of music') gather each night, providing the perfect introduction to Cuban salsa. Practice all week and then perfect your moves in a salsa lesson with a local dance partner - a farewell night out to remember in vibrant Havana! Most of all, the warmth of the people and the refreshing lack of commercialism that Cuba is renowned for allow us to enjoy the lifestyle and spirit of this inimitable isle.

Cycling through the tropical forest of Topes de Collantes National Park to the stunning lake at Hanabanilla reveals the natural splendour of this island. We end the trip learning about Cuba's revolutionary history, visiting Che Guevara's Mausoleum before returning to Castro's capital - enigmatic, charming Havana.

Cycling in Cuba's Cigar Country

We cycle to the westernmost part of the island, where colonial villages and rustic farmland provide the backdrop to our daily rides. As if frozen in time, rural Cuba is unhurried with sombrero wearing farmers ploughing their fields by ox, the deep-red soil key to the verdant landscape. Cuban tobacco is renowned for its quality throughout the world. Our journey takes us through the heart of cigar country where a patchwork of tobacco plantations weaves its way between the grassy, round mogotes that characterise Vinales Valley. We stop to visit the famous vega of Alejandro Robaina, once known as the 'Godfather of Cuban tobacco', where we learn how a first class product is grown. Back in the saddle we continue across the causeway to the deserted beach of Cayo Jutias. Our trip ends in vibrant Havana where we visit a cigar factory to see cigars carefully rolled by hand and make some purchases!
