London – Cape Town (Make your own way to) Nairobi – Mumbai (Make your own way to) Delhi – Sydney – Colombo - London
After working for a few years since having last travelled both myself and my husband decided we needed a break from the daily grind, dig out our dusty backpacks and go travelling together. We both wanted to visit places neither of us had been before which was proving to be difficult as we had little to no idea of what was available to us, so we headed to our local Flight Centre for some well needed inspiration.
After a lot of deliberating and some much needed inspiration from our very accommodating consultant we decided on an Emirates ticket allowing us a number of stopovers concentrating primarily on Africa and India, where both myself and my husband had never been before.
We started our journey in Africa and flew into Cape Town where we picked up car hire from the airport. We spent 2 weeks travelling South Africa including the Garden Route, Port Elizabeth, Knysna, Oudtshoorn and finally finishing up in Cape Town.
After spending a few nights in Cape Town we picked up an Acacia tour and started our journey into Africa. We travelled up through Namibia stopping at Fish River Canyon, Windhoek and finally the Etosha National Park where we went on Safari for the first time. Onwards through Botswana stopping at the Okavango Delta and Chobe National Park and then into Zambia to take a well deserved break in Livingstone.
After spending some time in Livingstone seeing the magnificent Victoria Falls and searching for some rare white Rhinos we moved onto Malawi to visit Lake Malawi and then up to Tanzania. One of the highlights of the trip was travelling over to Zanzibar to experience the amazing crystal clear water, white sand and spices the island has to offer. The relaxing was soon over when we left Zanzibar and travelled into Tanzania to Safari at the Ngorogoro Crater and Serengeti National Park. We finally ended our trip in Nairobi said goodbye to some great friends we had made on your trip and moved onto India.
We arrived in Mumbai after a really long flight and headed straight to Goa for some recovery time. We spent 2 ½ months in India exploring Rajasthan and Northern India including the well known ‘Golden Triangle’ route. Some of the highlights included the amazing floating palace in Udaipur, Jodhpur Fort, the Taj Mahal in Agra and the Ganges in Varanasi.
After leaving India we headed for civilisation and flew to Sydney, Australia. We decided to treat ourselves in Sydney and stay in hotels which we booked prior to leaving the UK so we knew we had a nice place to lay our head. We spent some time exploring Sydney including the Blue Mountains, many of Sydney’s beaches and enjoying the city before heading to Adelaide to see some family.
We only had a short time in Australia before we headed on our way home, via Sri Lanka. Sri Lanka is such a green and beautiful country. We had 1 month travelling Sri Lanka going up into the hill country, exploring the eastern beaches and Colombo centre before heading back to the UK for Christmas.
We had the most amazing trip, made even better by the great advice and guidance we got from our consultant at Flight Centre, I would thoroughly recommend visiting Flight Centre, they gave us some great advice and made booking our trip effortless.

London - New York - Fiji - Sydney - London
Last year my Fiancée and I wanted to go to Australia to experience an endless summer although in hindsight a London summer and an Australian summer are two completely different things!
Instead of getting the long direct flights to Sydney we decided to break up our trip and pay the little bit extra to add in a few places we have both always wanted to go- New York and Fiji.
New York was probably the most atmospheric big city I have ever been too. Before we arrived we had high expectations from all the movies, songs and things that have been written about the city and it didn't let us down. Although it was colder than we expected this seemed to add to the charm of the place and we thoroughly enjoyed discovering all the diverse sections of the city from Brooklyn to Staten Island to Soho.
Our next stop was Fiji which was memorable in equal parts for its people and its scenery. It certainly rivalled Australia for its laid back attitude and the beautiful scenery reminded us of Portugal's southern coast with mountains as a backdrop to beautiful beaches. The only difference was that the white stone houses of Portugal were replaced with multicoloured houses of Fiji!
Our final stop on our adventure was Sydney. My fiancée and I had been looking forward to seeing Australia for a long time and were pleased that the weather didn't let us down with bright sunshine everyday. We absolutely loved Sydney's beaches and the Rock area but our favourite places were just out of Sydney where we stayed 2 nights in the romantic Blue Mountains and 2 nights in the Hunter Valley (although we would have preferred to stay much longer!) sampling the local wine and music.
